Papula de Gaia
2019
The Papula de Gaia erupts from the earth, precipitated by an [e]-flow clog. Growing uncontrollably, it threatens to destabilize the surrounding ecosystem, draining it of life. Yet the Papula presents an opportunity in the form of a new ecological niche. A specially adapted Mech-Organic creature has the unique ability to occupy the Papula, feeding off its excess [e]-flow. This creature at first glance resembles a regular patch of Moss, but upon closer examination it can be seen breathing heavily, using its bio-mechanical lung to suck the [e] out from deep within the Papula.
In an ecosystem undergoing a Papula eruption… the Moss Lung alone has the power to restore balance.
